Businesses with established teams

Productive workforce = increased profits

The most successful companies have one thing in common:  Employees who feel engaged and valued.

Your TEAM are the key to keeping your business ticking. Without them, you cannot deliver your promise to your customers.

Let’s face it, when you have employees who are satisfied in their jobs, they have a major impact on the growth and success of YOUR business.

Managing a small business AND being a leader is hard work! But if you take the time to boost your employee’s productivity, efficiency and creativity, you won’t be managing it alone!

So lets get down to business. What can I do for you?

  • HR Audits
  • Workforce Planning
  • Recruitment - End to End
  • Wages / Salary Advice
  • Induction & Onboarding
  • Employment Contracts
  • Employment Documentation
  • Policies & Procedures
  • Position Descriptions

Workforce planning

Do you have the right number of people with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time to deliver your business goals?

There is no point in putting a square peg in a round hole! Let’s ensure your workforce are where they need to be, doing what they are supposed to be doing and are working towards a common goal!  Workforce planning done right will reduce turnover, keep your employees engaged and eager to grow with you.

“Finding and keeping staff is the most difficult part of owning a small business”

I cannot count how many times I have seen this written or heard it spoken amongst small business owners.

It can be incredibly frustrating to go through a whole recruitment process to find out a month or so after a new employee starts that they are just not the right fit! Not to mention a very costly exercise!!!

Let us help you get it right the first time!

Beverley Russell Consulting will provide you with quality advice and direction with respect to ensuring your job is designed in alignment with your vision and your business needs AND the employee is equipped to undertake this role within your business.

We take a long-term partnership approach to ensure the successful sourcing, placement, onboarding and retention of employees in your business.

Emphasis should be put on every phase of the recruitment cycle:

  1. Define - Job design, job description, skills matrix and person specification
  1. Attract - Writing appealing job ads that define your needs and attract the right people
  1. Assess - Screen, shortlist, behavioural interviews,
  1. Select - Psychometric testing (personality profiling), skills testing, reference checking
  1. Offer - Informal and formal, negotiations, contracts of employment
  1. Onboard - Orientation, induction, setting goals, performance management, mentoring

Beverley Russell Consulting can provide as much or as little guidance, assistance and ‘doing’ that you need through your journey to employing the Right people with the Right skills and the Right attitude to help you meet your business goals.

Policies and procedures

The What

Policies and procedures promote consistency across the organisation and reduce liability risks.

The Who

They are a necessity in any business with any number of employees!

The Why

Quality business policies communicate your culture, values and philosophy. They outline what is expected of your employees, what you employees expect of you and what customers can expect from the organisation.

They are more than just lists of rules and how to go about achieving them. They show employees the bigger reasons behind their jobs and lay out some ways to measure success.

Typical business policies include:

  • Workplace Bullying
  • Anti-Discrimination and Harassment
  • Leave
  • Code of Conduct
  • Grievance Resolution
  • Recruitment and Selection
  • Performance Review and Bonus
  • Training and Development
  • Induction
  • Workplace Health, Safety and Environment
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Flexible Work Arrangement
  • Confidentiality

But of course, if you want something specific for your business, we can develop it to your requirements.

The How…

I cannot stress enough how important policies and procedures are in any business.  However, it is also important to note that there is no point in having them in place if no one knows about them or understands what they mean.  A lot of businesses miss the most important step: Implementation!

All employees should know what policies exist, understand what they mean and know how to apply them to their every day work.  This is ensured through induction and periodical information sessions where employees acknowledge and sign off on their understanding.

This necessary step does not only allow for consistent productivity but also reduces your risks when it comes to managing employee conduct and following a disciplinary process.
