Sole Business owner ready to expand

You are at an exciting stage in your business growth and are ready to take the leap into outsourcing or employing staff!

However, you don’t know where to start!

Well guess what? You just took the first step – finding a professional to walk with you through the process and reduce the overwhelm that comes with expansion.

You’re in good hands!

I love working with passionate business owners who want to grow.

I believe, hand on heart, that effective management of your human resources is key to building a successful business. And until now, PERSONALISED human resources services were not so readily available to sole business owners at a price that is within their reach!

People who succeeded on their own but rushed into employing staff too quickly found there’s a lot more to it than giving orders.

Good Human Resource practices are about:

  • Aligning your positions and employees with the big picture
  • Understanding the skills, knowledge and type of person needed
  • Developing accurate position descriptions
  • Recruiting, selecting and retaining talent
  • Monitoring, recognising, rewarding
  • Remunerating your staff appropriately
  • Delegating responsibility
  • Implementing appropriate systems to support your team
  • Future planning

HR Documents and Templates

If you are not already aware, there are many businesses out there selling (or giving away for free) downloadable business templates. And for a lot of circumstances, generic templates will suffice.

By now you know that Beverley Russell Consulting is passionate about keeping things affordable for small businesses!

If you are new to becoming an employer and you would like to do some research and reading, I we highly recommend that you visit the Fair Work Ombudsmen website.  Actually, you NEED to visit this website and bookmark it for future reference as it outlines the basics when it comes to employment law in Australia.

The Fair Work Ombudsmen also have a library of templates and guides which is a great introduction on what you need when starting out as an employer.

So have a troll through and see if you can find what you need. You may also want to visit our useful links page for other HR and small business recommendations.

Beverley’s Tips

Only download and use the documents you need for your stage of business.  Workplace laws are complex however, as a small business owner you a required to understand how you need to comply with the law and best practice principles when it comes to Human Resources. So if you have any questions, drop Beverley a line and she will guide you in the right direction. (full disclosure: Beverley Russell is not a workplace lawyer therefore, not equipped to provide such advice but can certainly provide you with insight and guidance into what your business needs).

Tailor made documents

If you don’t have the time or resources to create your own HR documents to add to your library, and/or would like tailor made templates specific to your business, please get in touch. We would love to help you out.
